Werner A. Schöffel (*1962)
The works of art arise in a stringent conceptual manner often over multi-year periods. New realities that are non-documentary are recreated. On that account the work is not photography in a conventional sense but rather the use of photographic means that often lead to diverse forms of installations. Werner Schöffel often focuses on existential questions about volatile nature in contrast to human-made stuff. Time and personhood in today’s consumptive societies are main topics. Anyhow they do not attempt to explain anything or to be pleasingly but tend to disturb the observer.
